JV game story

The rematch had teeth.

The second meeting, and what decided it.

JV finalOct 8 · Redondo Union 20, Mira Costa 0

Redondo's JV swept Mira Costa without giving up a point.

Redondo Union's JV beat Mira Costa 20-0 to close out the season series after taking the first meeting 14-0. Across the two games Mira Costa has not reached the end zone against them. It was Redondo's 11th shutout in 15 games.

Alyssa Kim decided this one on defense. 4 of Redondo's 6 tackles for loss and 3 of its 4 sacks were hers, and she did not miss a flag all night — 5 pulls, none missed, while the team missed 8. She also caught every one of the 8 balls thrown her way for 52 yards.

Kali Connoy threw 24-of-38 for 206 yards and 2 touchdowns — to Phoenix Almeida, whose 84 receiving yards led every Redondo receiver, and to Zoey Ziemniak, who had already taken a drive away with an interception. Abby Markis ran in the third touchdown and swung field position with 18 punt-return yards. Manhattan Farrell and Zoey Ziemniak caught the extra points.
