⚔️ The QB duel that decides it
Blair Nolen (Jr, RUHS) is a problem you can’t scheme away — 27 touchdown passes against just 4 interceptions, and when the pocket breaks she’s gone for 613 rushing yards and 5 scores. She doesn’t force the game; she takes what you give and punishes hesitation. Nolen’s control.
Sofia Fatone (So, Mira Costa) plays a different sport — a sophomore gunslinger with 1,779 passing yards and 19 TDs who has, frankly, carried this Mustang offense on her back. The catch: she’ll let it rip into traffic (10 picks), and that’s the whole game. Fatone’s nerve.
This is where the game could tilt. Mayella Kumprey (Jr) is a one-woman defense: 110 flag pulls, 5 interceptions, and 4 defensive touchdowns — she doesn’t just stop drives, she scores off them. Add ball-hawk Tenley Harris (Jr, 6 INTs) and a relentless pass rush in Michela Fuchs (12 sacks) and Karly Roe (9 sacks), and you have exactly the profile that turns Fatone’s aggression into points the other way.
The Mustangs have playmakers who can trade blows. Peyton Schlichter (So) is a true two-way weapon — team-high 528 receiving yards and a defense that produced 9 breakups, 3 picks, and a pick-six. Serena Sullivan (Jr, 5 receiving TDs) is the deep shot that can flip a scoreboard in one snap.
Keep both eyes on Natalie Swick (Jr, Mira Costa) — a genScouts two-way nightmare in the truest sense: 7 passing TDs, 5 receiving TDs, 191 rushing yards, 43 flag pulls, and 3 interceptions. She throws it, catches it, runs it, and takes it away. If Mira Costa pulls the upset, her fingerprints are on all of it.
